WORKSHOP PARTICIPANT FEEDBACK "Hi guys, I really enjoyed the Melbourne photography workshop thanks - I was hoping to just get some photographs for my portfolio out of this tour, but I definitely got much more! Firstly, Suzy and Mark you really made us feel very welcomed, you were both happy and full of energy, talking to everyone and getting to know us. Secondly, even though I live in Melbourne, it was nice to see Melbourne from a different perspective - I've never been to the Brighton Beach Boxes until the workshop and I really enjoyed photographing all the boxes along the beach. Obviously, for me it was a lot of money to spend in one day, but it was definitely worth spending that money, because I got so much out of the day. Even though I study photography, I received some technical advice and critical feedback from someone different to my lecturers, and it's nice to get that "outside perspective" as one can get used to the ways in which a university works, and just get the same feedback from the same lecturers. To actually get feedback while shooting on location is something quite rare for any photographer, so it was nice to take advantage of that while we could. The food was really delicious and the technical sessions were probably what makes this tour stronger than other workshops - Mark, you helped everyone step by step to get the best out of the type of camera they had! Even though I knew most of what you were teaching us, it was nice to just cover everything again and revise some things that I may have forgotten. I did also learn quite a few things along the way as well! I think the small groups definitely helped with the one-on-one tuition as it gave everyone a chance to ask Mark questions and there was plenty of time for him to come around to everyone and just see how everyone was doing. Thanks again!" - Alice Beaven, VIC "Hi Suzy, once again I really enjoyed the photography workshop, as this was the second workshop I have been on I already knew that I would enjoy the day and I had an idea of what to expect. This meant that I could get straight into asking questions and practicing techniques. On both workshops that I have been on there has been beginners and more advanced photographers and both times Mark was excellent at communicating with everyone on the workshop. All of the locations were great, I particularly enjoyed Flinders St Station and the view of the city from the area around the Swan St Bridge. The technical sessions are good in that they are simple but have enough info that you can learn something no matter what level photographer you are. I would not hesitate to listen to them again. The informal format of the sessions means that you can ask questions without being embarrassed and Mark ensures that he answers your question in a way that everyone understands. I think the tour is excellent value for money because you wouldn’t be able to cover all of the locations in a day by yourself including being at each location at the right time of day and to have Mark spend time with each photographer one on one through the day to talk about individual requirements is brilliant! I have learnt just as much on the second tour as the first and will definately book another workshop in the future. Suzy you where great also as you also made sure to talk with every photographer and ensure they were comfortable and all enjoying the day. Overall I can’t recommend the workshop enough, great locations, great people and excellent advice! Well done guys and I hope to see you again in the future!"- Mark Doyle, VIC "Thanks again for another top photography adventure! Both yourself & Suzy made the trip stress free & ensured the day was enjoyed by all." - Sam Mariani, VIC Return To Top VIEW NEXT COURSE DATE Enter your details below to view upcoming course dates and book your place online! Thanks for making everything simple and to the point! You have real talent, keep teaching! Hope to do another workshop with you in the future! Best of luck to you and your wife in your future endeavors! " - Erica Guido, USA" Hi Suzy, I just wanted to thank you and Mark for the fantastic day I had today. I learnt more today about my camera than I did in a 6 week photography course I took 12 months ago! I'm sure that my shots will improve out of sight after today. Everything was very impressive, from the locations chosen, to lunch and the customer service. Lots of my friends enjoy photography and I will certainly recommend your workshops. I wish you both the very best in the future. " - Mandi Phillips, VIC "Hi Mark, I really enjoyed the photography workshop on Saturday, even with the weird weather! But you could probably tell that? Did I ever stop smiling?? I think I actually clapped with glee when I got to the light trails on the last shot. Great fun! Plus it's such a relief to know I can really move forward a long way with my own future experimenting after just one day of learning. You took a lot of the mystery out of digital photography. Now it's up to me to practice. Thank you!! " - Jenny Driscoll, VIC "Mark, I had the best day last Saturday! I came in knowing absolutely nothing and walked away with a great amount of knowledge on landscape photography. You and Matt were both friendly and made the day even better knowing that our questions, which I'm sure at times were pretty lame, were answered professionally. It was the best $$ I have spent in a long time. Why waste your money sitting in a classroom doing this? You would learn nothing! " - Chris Bird, VIC "I had a wonderful time on Saturday – took me a little while to get used to being taken to a place and having to “find” the shot – but what a great learning experience that was. The whole day was fantastic, but if I had to say what the best learning curve for me was, it was a learning about the light, and b how to gauge the right exposure from looking at the information in the viewfinder of the camera – that was a godsend! I can’t believe I didn’t know how to do that before – and even if you want to under or over expose – it makes it so much easier. That knowledge in itself was worth its weight in gold. I really enjoyed everyone’s company, and your expertise especially." - Sue Wickham, VIC"Thank you for leading another great photography workshop that I enjoyed very much! Although I live in Melbourne, close to the bay area, it was great to learn the best locations and compositions to improve my photography. I really liked Brighton Beach Boxes and would like to go there again. The service was great at the restaurant and the food delicious. Thanks also to Suzy for helping make the tour so enjoyable." - Michiko, VIC Ask a Melbourne resident and they will readily admit that one of the best things about living there is the delicious food.
